SPH Radio STL Codecs – Singapore

Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) Radio manages and operates three radio stations, ONE FM 91.3, Kiss92 FM and UFM100.3. The station recently won the bid for two additional licences to commence broadcasting in early 2018. SPH needed to upgrade and rationalise their studio transmitter links and chose the Merlin codecs from Tieline for the primary link and the Bridge-IT XTRA for the secondary redundant links.  Telesto Broadcast Solutions, delivered and will be supporting SPH Radio in the commissioning of the 20 codecs purchased. Telesto is proud that Tieline codecs are the product of choice in Singapore, where quality and local support are key factors in the users purchasing decisions.

 

Mediacorp Radio STL Codecs – Singapore

Mediacorp, Singapore’s leading media company with platforms spanning television, radio, newspapers, magazines, digital and out-of-home media, has installed almost 60 Merlin IP audio codecs in the new Mediacorp Campus facilities in Mediapolis and at its Bukit Batok Transmitter site. The codecs carry 12 radio channels which are broadcast in 4 languages to Singapore’s multilingual audience. Telesto Broadcast Solutions, delivered and supported the installation and commissioning of the near 60 Merlin codecs used for main and redundant studio transmitter links.

 

FM TX Upgrade – Brunei

In 2013 Telesto was was awarded a contract to replace the FM transmitters and antenna systems for Kristal FM in Brunei.  The two sites at Subok and Andulau provide nationwide coverage for Kristal FM  and Quran FM.  The Work required the installation of a temporary low power  system before the old antenna and transmitters could be removed and replaced with new equipment from Radio Frequency Systems (RFS) and Eddystone Broadcast.  The new 32 bay 4 tier antennas were installed in parallel with the new transmitters.  The entire project completed within 4 months therefore minimising the period of reduced coverage for the station, despite the unseasonal weather in early 2014.  The  Eddystone 5Kw transmitters, in a 1+1 configuration, were installed together with a comprehensive network management system for control and monitoring of the two sites.  The fibre links are fully redundant using Tieline Genie Distribution codecs at the studio and each transmitter site.

 

MW and SW Broadcast Station and Studios – Pwin Oo Lwin, Myanmar

Telesto was awarded a multimillion dollar contract in 2010 to design supply, install and commission a new MW and SW station for national coverage of Myanmar.  Completed in 2012 the transmitter system consists of 2x200Kw MW RIZ transmitters giving a total output power of 400Mw feeding into an omni-directional aerial; and 3 x 100Kw SW RIZ transmitters transmitting into 2 SW aerials through an antenna matrix.  Two log periodic SW aerials were supplied, one omni-directional and one directional.   An emergency studio was also built at the transmitter building.  The separately located studios centre included several on air studios, production and editing facilities.  All broadcast equipment was supplied by Telesto including transmitters, antenna, studio equipments and STL equipment. The green field sites required extensive civil works undertake by our Myanmar partners.  Telesto has continued to provide an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) to the station with two site visits by Telesto and the main equipment suppliers

 

GMM Media – Bangkok Thailand

GMM Media Public Company Ltd is the leading company in the fields of music, TV and radio production, publishing, show production and promotion, artist management, on-line content distribution, retail and radio broadcasting in Thailand.  The stations Green Wave 106.5; Hot 91.5 FM, Chill 89 FM and 94 EFM are broadcast from studios on the 38th floor of the GMM Grammy Place Building in Bangkok.  The studios required a full rebuild with new wall, floor and ceiling treatments, new furniture and of course a complete new technical system.  GMM’s broadcast facility comprises seven on-air studios, five production, three sound booths, a live studio, audience room, MCR and media production rooms for FM, internet and mobile streaming.  GMM’s Apisit Poonnaniti commenting on the project  said  ‘Telesto Broadcast Solutions gave me confidence that whatever obstacles and problems might arise with such a complicated refurbishment of our facility, they would be handled with professionalism and dedication and we now have a brand new facility that will allow GMM Media to grow to meet the changing face of media broadcasting in Thailand.’

 

Smooth FM – Lagos Nigeria

Telesto undertakes the build and commissioning of a radio station in Lagos. The site was a double  story house on Victoria Island and the building required complete refurbishment, installation of acoustically controlled studios and the addition of a transmitter tower in the garden.  Our associate Acoustic Consultant (Arlab) and ourselves undertook to support the owner in realising a modern state of art digital broadcast facility comprising 2 On Air Studios, News Studio, Production Studio and  Production Offices. Many design and planning iterations later and after a year of building approvals and construction the station was launched in November 2009. Early on in the project it was decided that all equipment would be purchased by Telesto and fully prefabricated in our facility in Singapore to ensure a trouble free and quick onsite build and commissioning phase. The total on site time was less than 3 weeks and the pre build proved to be a great success and will be a model for such systems in the future.

 

Virgin Radio – Thailand

The completion of a major broadcast infrastructure development for Virgin Bec-Tero in Bangkok  Thailand was a major milestone for the company.  The project started life in 2004 as little more than a sketch of the basic studio layout and brief from the client to have the best constructed, finished and technically advanced studios in the region.

 

HT Music and Entertainment – India

Telesto provided technical assistance in the planning and implementation of the new FM radio stations for Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.  The client, a major media business in the Hindustan Times Group are innovative and leaders in the burgeoning and new market for FM licensees in India, the station architectural, acoustic and technical design reflects this.

 

Gulf News Broadcasting – UAE

In mid 2006 Ian Duddridge (Calypso Consulting) was contracted to provide technical services in the studio design, layout, equipment specifications as well as acoustic noise analysis and design specifications and management support for the main building architect. Tikendra Singh of Acoustic Research Lab provide the acoustic expertise and Telesto undertook the installation and commissioning of the system. The work commenced in November 2006 and the station went live with two services in mid January 2007.
